A gathering dedicated to the environment, responsible resource management, and the future of a sustainable economy also provided space for the topic of used textiles. A representative of TextilEco a.s. attended the event in Lány in the presence of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and Mrs. Eva Pavlová.
Every year, a large amount of clothing, footwear, and other textiles is discarded in the Czech Republic. However, not everything people no longer use should automatically become waste. A significant proportion of textiles can continue to serve their purpose—provided they enter an effective system of collection, sorting, and subsequent reuse.
While the European Union is preparing an extended producer responsibility system for textiles, the existing infrastructure for collection, sorting and reuse is coming under growing pressure from cheap fast fashion, declining input quality and rising operating costs. Unless the new system is designed quickly, simply and enforceably, Europe risks weakening the very infrastructure it will need most for a functioning circular textile economy.
For years, brand-new, unworn garments have vanished from the market — destroyed in the name of price control, distribution discipline, and image. A coming ban is set to close that loophole, forcing brands to handle surplus differently: systematically, transparently, and without a “silent ending” in disposal.

Evropská unie schválila v roce 2025 povinnost zavedení systémů rozšířené odpovědnosti výrobce (EPR) pro textil a obuv ve všech členských státech.
Souběžně se zaváděním EPR narůstá tlak na infrastrukturu. Stávající síť třídicích kapacit v České republice je roztříštěná, rozdílná v kvalitě a často závislá na nestabilních výstupech.
Jedním z klíčových posunů, které zaváděná pravidla přinášejí, je ukončení nejasností ohledně statusu použitých textilií.
Zavedení EPR vnáší do systému novou formu hranice – mezi těmi, kdo mají kapacitu, infrastrukturu a procesní kompetenci systém obsloužit, a těmi, kdo nikoliv.
V době, kdy vzniká zcela nový rámec nakládání s textilem, je nezbytné propojit odborné, legislativní a provozní kompetence.
